相信有很多人都曾为获得像高盛这样的金融机构的实习机会兴奋，同时又为如何将实习的机会转化为一份让人艳羡的工作offer而犯愁。高盛证券部门副总裁Stratford Dennis谈论了他对于这件事情的一些看法。他首先提到：实习生们在实习期间犯的最重大的错误就是很多实习生会聚成一团，却没有去努力融入到资深从业者的圈子当中。尽管喧嚣交易大厅会让初出茅庐的实习生感到有些怯懦，但是如果只是缩在一边是无法让其他资深从业者看到你身上的潜力。这对于能否通过实习来获得一份工作是至关重要的。Dennis本人就曾在大学期间到高盛实习。他据此谈了实习生如何才能打动他，而想要打动他又需要做一些什么样的准备。Dennis首先介绍了一下的他的背景：我来自康涅狄格州，从一所男校高中毕业之后，我去了宾大主修哲学，政治和经济，主要是经济学。我在大二到大三期间在另外一家银行实习，之后在大三到大四期间来到高盛实习。从2004年开始我就一直在高盛。最初是从交易标准普尔股票期权开始做起，随后的四年里我一直在做新兴市场股票期权交易。关于证券部门所从事的工作，Dennis谈到：证券交易是一个非常大的部门，详细的介绍要花费非常多的时间。大致的可以分为销售，交易和其他部门。销售部门整天都在和职业的资产管理人，养老基金，对冲基金，共同基金等等的基金经理打交道。他们每天的工作都是在帮助这些人获得更好的业绩。而交易部门的工作是管理这些公司的风险以及为客户提供流动性。而其他部门工作则细致一些，主要是为这两个主要部门提供一些支持。其所在部门实习生的主要工作和职责也是根据所处的不同部门都有所区别。但是由于实习生权限往往不够，所以他们一般都不会独立的承担起销售和交易的工作。他们要在正式员工基本开始上班时也准时上班协助正式员工完成工作，做一些事务性的工作。当他们的能力有所增长之后，他们可以开始参与一些分析工作。但是给实习生的工作难度应该循序渐进从一些相对简单一些的工作开始，渐渐增加难度。这样可以摸索到他们的能力范围，其实和正式员工是一样的。根据以往带实习生的经验Dennis给出一些他自己的建议：作为一个实习生，最重要的工作有两个，一个是展现态度，另一个就是展现能力。实习生的能力在选拔的过程中已经能够证明，所遗留给实习生最关键的是展现他们的果敢，渴望和饥饿感，只有这样才能在交易大厅这样的环境中有良好的表现。另外好的成绩是必须的，但是丰富的经历可以帮你脱颖而出。一个简单的办法是向人们讲出你的故事，讲出那些你所做过的非凡的事，向人们展示你的能力和对成功的渴望足以胜任这样的一个工作。我想说的一点是：直接一点就好，没必要委婉。要展现出你渴望得到这份工作的强烈欲望，特别是想要在这家公司为你的老板工作的强烈欲望。这是非常关键的，否则即便你在实习期间展现出了非常强的工作能力，也可能不会得到这份工作。

offer就是offer，return offer也是offer的一种。一般来说在美国和英国等欧美国家的公司，都搞summer internship，比如你在哈佛读本科，那么大二暑假的时候去了高盛实习，然后实习表现很不错，他们就会发return offer给你，当你大四毕业的时候就可以回高盛正式工作了。说白了就是你在读书期间进行实习之后，公司对你很满意，提前给你发的offer。
