The second year it turnek into a metropolis.It developed so fast that the city received the name:Cheng,which literally meant "becoming a capital". During the Western Han Dynasty(206BC~23AD),the brocade weaving and trade brought so much prosperity to the local area that the government set up a special office in the Southwest of the city to manage brocade weaving and trade business .The city became Known as Jincheng (the Brocade City) afterwards.Another mane was given to Cheng ringthe five Dynasties Period(907-960)when Meng Chang (孟昶),emperor of the Later Shu State was in power .The emperor loved hibiscus very much ,and he had those flowers planted atop the city wall.The hibiscus in blossom made cheng colorful for miles around .So Cheng had another name called Furong Cheng (the Hibiscus City) .

Dated back to the Qin and Han Dynasties,Cheng was alresdy one of the five top instrial was already one of the five top instrial and commercial cities.In theTang Dynasty Cheng was as prosperous as Yangzhou(扬州),a big city located in the south of China. Cheng is advancing in all fields .It attracts friends and visitors both at home and abroad.

As the field is not very high, tourists can easily get into the orchard to look around. All year around fruit trees are planted in the garden for picking and tasting by the tourists in any month. There are lichee, longan, citrus fruits, carambola, persimmon, mango, strawberry, peaches, plums and more.

There has been a long time since I came back from Hainan—wow,hainan is such a
wonderful place that I will never forget it .It's really a good place where gave
me a rather good impression. I feel so wonderful ring the journey, as I have
experienced a lot of things for the first time.

In January 7th ---the first day of my journey, the fluttering snowflakes
diffused over Changzhou. I first took the train to shanghai then took the plane
to Hainan in Pudong airport. Although it’s my second time to take plane, I felt
even more excited than the first time. When flying, I found that I was flying
over the cloud of different types and colors. The sky is also brighter and
clearer than that I had ever seen. Soon we arrived in Meilan airport in Haikou,
the climate is totally different from that in Changzhou, It was warm there and
we could see coconut trees everywhere.

After 3 days competition, I went to BoAo where is famous for its forum. It
was my first time to experience the sea and the beach in the sunshine. When
sitting on the cruise, I could clearly see the ocean waves pushing the windows
of the cruise. It seemed that I was surrounded by the waves and the crystal
water. I felt as if a fish which had been living in the sea happily. Then we
land on the beach. The sand on the beach was so soft that it was cosy to lie on
the beach. I tried searching for the shells on the beach but failed. The beach
was totally different from what I heard before as there was nothing except
footsteps on the beach. In the afternoon, I played football on beach and scored
a goal with my new friends from all around China. It was really interesting and
challenging.

The next day, I went to Haikou. I first visited the tomb of Hairui, an
officer in Qing dynasty who was famous for rectitude. I think he should be the
role model of every person. In the afternoon, I went to the geological park of
volcano. A lot of stones of different shapes came into views. When arriving the
top of the park, it seemed that the while city was under my view. Also I had
seen plenty of interesting and rare types of the plants. I also got into a small
hole in the park, it is said that the hold was exactly the original hole where
maqma came from. But the volcano had stopped from erupting for thousands of
years.

I can’t forget this trip, not only does it give me a lot of joy, knowledge
and good memory, but also it give me a chance to make friends with people from
different fart in China. By enjoying the excellent scenery, I think I have
fallen in love with this beautiful city. I will cherish this experience.

Giovanni da Verrazzano named this place New Angoulême in the honor of the French king Francis I. European settlement began with the founding of the Dutch fur trading settlement in Lower Manhattan in 1613 later called New Amsterdam (Nieuw Amsterdam) in the southern tip of Manhattan in 1624. Later in 1626, Peter Minuit established a long tradition of shrewd real estate investing when he purchased Manhattan Island and Staten Island from native people in exchange for trade goods. (Legend, now long disproved, has it that the island was purchased for $24 worth of glass beads.) Minuit's settlement was also a haven for Huguenots seeking religious liberty.

In 1640, Peter Stuyvesant was appointed governor, and ruled as a member of the Dutch Reformed Church. He curtailed the city's religious freedoms and closed all of the city's taverns. The colony was granted self-government in 1652. In 1664, the British conquered the area and renamed it New York. The Dutch regained it in August 1673, renaming the city "New Orange", before ceding New Netherland permanently to the English for what is now Surinam in November 1674.

I went on a trip to Hainan today with my family ring the summer holiday.We went there by plane. After we got off the plane, we went to the beach to see the beautiful sand and swim there. There were other people there too. Some people were surfing and some people were diving in the deeper part of the sea. Afterwards we had lunch at a seafood restaurant near the beach. We ate seafood like shrimps and craps, and drank some abalone soup.
We all didn't want to go home because the scenery was so beautiful, and there were so many other exciting things to try,but sadly it was time for us to go.
It was definitely an exciting trip.If I have a chance to go there again, i will be more than happy to visit the place again.
