牛仔舞在拉丁美洲舞中是历史最年轻的舞蹈，发源自美国，经由膝盖，腿脚，臀部来表达舞蹈的特性，运用追并步的技巧表达牛仔舞也是非常重要。追并步可以踢脚、甩脚，正常追并步，转动等方式表达。转动是另一重要的项目，转动有除了舞蹈时舞伴间彼此互绕舞蹈外，舞者还须了解个人的转动技巧，以自身肢体来呈现舆运用出转动技巧。现今兢赛型的牛仔舞中，受到另一型”摆荡型'捷舞的影响，并大量使用其技巧：因此可看到今日的捷舞，综合了正统的直脚型牛仔舞与摆荡型牛仔舞的部份技巧，今天有机会可就此两类型的技巧差别予以解说 。 首先要谈到的是：膝盖。之前曾谈到舞者必须了解运用膝盖部位的重要性。牛仔舞的舞蹈风格是经由膝盖的弯曲，打直创造出来，这是最直接与简单方式思考牛仔舞的动作，以基本原地摆动步为例，动作是当移动脚移动时弯曲移动膝盖，脚到定位，膝盖打直，重心移转，此肘另一脚在不移动下膝盖弯曲，以较自然的方式弯曲膝盖，再打直’重心移转回来。请特别注意膝盖的方向，当摇摆步时，是一脚在后，一脚在前，在前膝盖弯曲的脚，膝盖的朝向须向内，不可有朝向外的膝盖，膝盖部位因向内而有所谓的紧蹦感的膝盖。一般的阐述是，窄的膝盖，也就是双膝尽量靠拢匀接近，于追并步时亦同，当移动脚移动至定位时，注意膝盖不可朝外，必须朝内，双膝相距不可过远，以下为示范正确舆不正确的膝盖朝向位置。运用此原则并视为必要的原则练习牛仔舞。 追并步的膝盖：请务必在追并步结束时，结束脚必须有膝盖打直的动作。以向左追并步为例，整整个细节为：右脚重心膝盖后锁，左脚膝盖弯曲向左移动，左脚到达定位时，右脚压缩弯曲移动进入追并的动作，因右脚的弯曲，因此追并步时膝盖都是压缩弯曲着，于追并步结束是在弯曲的左脚，接着必须将左脚膝盖打直后锁，这才完成追并步的舞步。向右追并步技巧糊细节亦同向左追并步，再次请注意膝盖的动作。 牛仔舞的脚部技巧，首先脚部要有”弹簧”的感觉，藉由腿脚的动作技巧，产生弹簧的感觉，创造出牛仔舞的轻盈感舆扎实感，原地摇摆步时，一脚在后，一脚在前，在前的脚请勿特意提高脚跟， 尽量将重点放在脚掌的内缘，而在重心由前转移至 后峙，前脚脚跟可有限度的离地但不可过高，在追并步时，重心置于双脚脚掌，而脚跟不可过度提高，追并步结束脚是以全足平放于地，动作运作时须有弹簧的感觉。接着示范原地摇摆舆追并步，注意脚跟不可过度提高，追并步的开始舆结束时重心置于全足 牛仔舞的臀部勤作，属于相反的型态。原地摇摆步，左脚移动向后，臀部则是往前摆向相反的右脚的方向，有些类似”马兰基”动作，产生相反型态，重心移至左脚，臀部向左脚移动，在臀部继续向左移动的同时，上半荡产生“马兰基”动作，上半身舆脚向左侧移动时，臀部继续的摆向右侧产生相反方向。此时肩膀必须保持舆地板平行。 一番耕耘，一片收获；一粒汗珠，一串硕果”。
