一、把好招聘关是前提

改革开放以来,中国经济高速发展,与世界的联系持续加深,需要大量掌握外语技能了解外国风土人情的人才。从学校的角度看,没有什么比从英语国家直接聘请英语教师,最能直接有效的满足家长及学生的需求的了。然而,愿意来中国工作生活的人良莠不齐,之中不乏有在所在国家有不良记录或是只是想到中国来旅游顺便工作人等等。这种情况下把好招聘关是十分重要的。目前的招聘渠道不外乎以下这么几种 :一是通过中介;二是通过网络;三是通过认识的人介绍。其实我个人认为在与英语国家当地学校建立联系后,请友校代为推荐或与友校师资力量交流是最好的招聘途径。不论通过哪种途径,招聘时依据岗位不必一味追求高学历。但是招聘标准一旦定下就要坚持。最好招聘从事过相应年龄层段英语教学工作的应聘者。这样一旦录用,马上就可以上课。如没有搞过教学,本人学历再高,恐怕也难以胜任教学任务。招聘时一定要进行视频面试。通过视频面试,要请应聘者多讲。这样可以了解其是否发音清楚,是否有非英语口音(例如加拿大虽然是英语国家,但来自法语区的人母语是法语。而母语法语的人讲英语,多说几句很重法语音就带上了。)。面试时注意请外教出示相关证件原件。如果没有这些过程,由于我们把关不够,外教到校后发现不合适,会给双方都造成损失。

俗语常说“安居乐业”,只有安居才能乐业。这对外教也是适用的。要想让外教安心愉快地搞好外语教学,首先,在外教到校前就要安排好住房、接站等有关准备工作。住房要考虑到外教的工作、生活的方便。如楼层、通讯设备的配备、洗澡间设备等。注意东西方文化上的差异,尊重外教的文化、习惯、宗教信仰等。外教到校后,要及时安排体检,办理居留证、外国专家证等相关事项。同时要重视外教的安全问题。在到校后要组织外教学习中国的法律和交通规则。及时详细地介绍学校的情况,当地社会情况。安排专人负责外教生活管理,如带领外教熟悉住地超市和蔬菜水果市场,如何缴纳水电费及外教住所各种设备维修。依照教学任务,可以考虑逢西方重大节日给外教放假或组织丰富多彩的活动,让他们感到亲切、愉快。这样才能使外教能把主要精力都放在教学工作上,不必为生活琐事所烦恼。另外,由于外教上课任务比较重,安排他们参加学校组织的职工旅游观光,让他们放松一下的同时了解一下中国的名胜古迹和美丽的风景,也是一种很好的沟通方式。

四、搞好教学管理是基础
