（二）揚州個園
揚州的個園，是一座獨具風格的名園。它是清嘉慶、道光年間興建起來的。當時園中遍植翠竹，又因竹葉形狀很像一個「個」字，故名「個園」。園中有春夏秋冬四季假山，以堆疊精巧而著名。
步入個園大門，便見湖石傍門，修竹繁茂，石筍參差，好像「雨後春筍」破土而出，這是個園春景。再往前，一座人工的假山出現了，它便是形態奇特的「春山」，和竹林相映成趣。
繞過「宜雨軒」，眼前豁然開朗，在濃蔭環抱的荷花池畔，一座六七米高的太湖石假山出現在眼前，這就是「夏山」。過石橋，進石洞，只覺得藕茶香飄，蒼翠生涼。
轉過「鶴亭」，是座「一」字形長廊。長廊盡頭便是「秋山」。秋山全用黃山石建成，造型不同一般，給人一種大膽潑辣的感覺。在晴天黃昏時分看此山，秋山迎著夕照，山勢巍峨，有紅楓、石橋，「秋高氣爽」的詩情畫意頓時就在眼前。
