I. Contents
About the teaching material
Today I’m going to talk about Mole 2, Unit 1, New Standard English, Book 6. This unit includes three parts: Part 1: Listen, point and find “ We’re making…”; Part Two Listen and say; Part Three Practice. In Part 1, the dialogue is about Sam and Amy are making a cake. But they are making noise. And Dad is reading. Mum is working.
About the students
The students in Grade 2 have been learning English for about 2 years. And they’ve learnt about sb is doing sth in Book4.
According to the New Standard Curriculum, the main instructional aims of teaching English in primary school is : to develop the Ss’ interests, self confidence; to cultivate the Ss’ language sense, good pronunciation; to develop the Ss’ skills of learning English.
II. Teaching aims:
Aims on knowledge
Words:
Ss are able to listen, speak, read and write the words:
make, cake, stop
They are able to listen, speak and read the words :
quiet, idea, instead
They can use the sentences in daily life:

2.Aims on the abilities
1) After the lesson, the students are able to talk about the present continuous tense freely. And ask and answer “What are you doing?” “We’re…”;
2) Students will have a very basic sense of present continuous tense. They are able to use these words and sentences in activities and daily life.
3.Aims on emotion
Students develop their interests, self confidence.
Tell the Ss should be polite.

TPR approach
“Task-based” teaching approach
Activities: golden eyes game, guessing game, and having competitions and so on.

Step 1 Warm up (3 minutes)

Introce the competition, between the two groups, which group can do well, they can get one verb which end with ing.
Step 1 Warm up (3 minutes)
1.Greetings.
2.TPR ---- Do and say.
T: Please stop! Please be quiet! (Do the action.)
Purpose: The sentence Please be quiet! is a key and difficult point. So, I will repeat it in any proper time in this class. Let’s the Ss can remember it.
To recall the memory of this part of knowledge by TPR is better than just read the cards.
Step 2 New Lesson (20 minutes)
1. What are you doing?
( T will write the sentence on the blackboard.)
Teach: make
Let the Ss try to spell cake, can you find the same point? A pronounce / /, try to spell lake, take, wake, snake
Purpose: Voice penetrate
Lead old for new
Master more new words
2.Take out your Preview Paper
We’ll deal with the question on the preview paper: What are you doing?
3. Listen and answer:
1) What are you doing?
2) What is Dad doing?
3) What is Mum doing?
Purpose: Get into the text by questions. Students can get the main idea about the text they’re going to learn.
4. Listen again and answer:
Maybe the Ss will ask
What is Amy doing?
What is Sam doing?
I’ll teach Ss the new sentence. Go and make a cake instead.
Step 3 Drills (5 minutes)
1.Listen, point and imitate.
2.Read in groups.
3.Role play the text.
Purpose: This step is a very important step for students to get the main idea of the dialogue first .Students learn by listening and reading. Make the imitation to be the good habit of learning.
Step 4 Consolidation (8 minutes )
1.Fill in the blanks. And let the Ss spell the key words.
Then use the main sentences chant.

3.Listen and match
Purpose: Practise listening
Listening skill is more important. I’ll let the Ss listen what the Ss are doing.
4. Talk about in groups and then act the dialogue.
First, talk about the picture in groups. What are you doing?
Then, show the whole picture. Look, it’s in the library. The Ss are reading books. What are they saying?
Purpose: As we know English is a tool, we learn it to use it. So we should try to help students to use what we learned in our daily life.
Step 5 Summary (3 minutes)
1. Ask students to tell us what they have learned.
2. The result of the competition, which group is the winner? Read the words and make sentences use the words as quickly as they can.
Step 6 Homework (1 minute)
A. Listen and imitate the dialogue.
B. Act the dialogue in groups.
